About This Project

Clayton Community Centre, Clayton, VIC

$24M

Adjacent to the busy commercial ‘Clayton Activity Centre’, this development is a comprehensive community meeting place and hub for Clayton residents. It provides a multi-purpose facility for a range of complementary sporting, recreational, cultural and social purposes.

The Community Centre co-locates an aquatic and fitness centre, library, youth & family services facility, preschool, maternal and child healthcare facility, dental clinic, arts facility and café.

The prominent main public entry provides access to the library and Aquatic Centre off the foyer and café, adjacent to the theatre. Further on, the Clayton Art Room and Youth and Family Services adjoin a large landscaped courtyard accessed via a covered veranda that leads through to the Preschool and Medical Clinic.

This east-west courtyard is a key feature of the masterplan, providing increased northern orientation and separating the Aquatic/Fitness functions from the other facilities. The Pre-school is located at the rear of the site with its discrete drop off and secure playground bordering the Council’s western car park. A dedicated entry is also provided here with lift and stair access to the Medical Centre at first floor level.
