Ivanhoe Girl’s Grammar School Junior School, Ivanhoe, VIC
$10.4M
The Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar Junior School redevelopment has represented a change of design direction for Jackson Architecture, with its play of patchwork coloured panels to the external envelope which provides a backdrop for the external play area.
This functions well in conjunction with the new external sporting / play facilities abutting or facing the building. The creation of a panellised plywood inner volume for the Open Learning Centre allows for the robust use at breaks as well as for school performances and indoor sports days.
The original classrooms have been upgraded and refurbished to complement the original detailing as well as to provide the most up to date services allowing for an efficient and flexible use of spaces which are necessitated by the Client’s ever-changing and developing student culture. As an ESD initiative, the implementation of electrochromatic glazing to the central glass roof allows the space to be used at all seasons of the year.
