About This Project

Ivanhoe Girl’s Grammar School Resource Centre, Ivanhoe, VIC

$10.4M

Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar School was seeking a new multipurpose facility that brought together students of all levels, staff and parents into one shared pivotal precinct. The brief therefore united a number of central and complimentary functions including: Junior and Senior resource centre, shared AV/IT areas, centralised staff work and common room and café including outdoor dining and entertainment amphitheatre.

The site is strategically poised between the two sub schools, and significant views to the east provide the stimulation for a building that arcs around a new shared outdoor space. Accordingly the building face to the east is almost completely glazed, opening up to the views and allowing a visual connection between the new outdoor plaza and the Resource and Staff Centre above. Shading devices are employed to control sun, light and glare, and are an integral feature of the many sustainability initiatives employed in the building.
