Mikel’s architectural experience encompasses a wide range of project types including hospitals, aged care, residential, commercial interiors, community and education projects, at all stages of their development. Many involved extensive teamwork on large, complex buildings, in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.
Mikel works with the client to generate architectural concepts that will support and enable their way of living and working. His aim is to establish whole building concepts that unite the many different considerations in each project, from planning items like staging, workflow and circulation through to the fit out items we see, touch and use. Design studies, the establishment of narratives and architectural concept generation all lead towards the refinement and articulation of the completed building, spaces and identifiable places.
In addition to the practice of Architecture, Mikel has also taught Architecture at The University of Melbourne, including Design Studios in the Undergraduate and Masters programmes.
