The Jackson Architecture team was saddened to hear The Jackson Architecture team was saddened to hear of the passing of Olivia Newton-John, aged 73. We were fortunate to work with Olivia from 2008 to 2013, to design her Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in Melbourne. Her passion and dedication was an inspiration to us all. “Daryl and I had the honour and pleasure of working closely with Olivia to bring her vision for the Centre to life. She was a truly kind and humble individual, with a genuine love for life and humanity”, Alex Stephanou, Senior Principal, Jackson Architecture. Our deepest condolences to Olivia’s family and friends. Essendon Football Club prides itself as a leader in providing support to the community. Its vision is to be one of the most inclusive and respected clubs in Australia. Realising this sees the development of their exisiting facility at Tullamarine - The Hangar - to include the Next Generation Academy. The project involved an expansion to the Essendon Football Club and Australian Paralympic High Performance Training Centre completed by JA in 2013, to incorporate dormitory and training facilities for Indigenous youth from all over Australia for education, training and accomodation. It will also cater for Australian Paralympic teams, the @essendonfcw and @essendonvfl teams and the local community. The Latrobe Creative Precinct will include a 750 seat theatre with a new performing arts centre, multipurpose rooms, an indoor/outdoor cafe and two open air event spaces including an amphitheatre. Our vision draws upon the Latrobe Valley’s rich timber history. The construction of the precinct pays homage to this history through the use of locally sourced timber - a narrative developed with our associates Katsieris Origami and local industry. The precinct will promote arts and culture, and will significantly enhance Latrobe Valley’s capability to host world-class theatre performances and other events. Site Visit A couple of weeks ago, JA team members Site Visit A couple of weeks ago, JA team members visited the Camberwell Community Centre, where construction has recently completed. The precinct will facilitate events, meetings, classes and workshops for the residents of Camberwell. It is also home to Camberwell Maternal and Child Health, providing these services in middle Camberwell for the first time. Notably, there is a dedicated ceramic and pottery workshop space with firing capabilities. We engaged in a collaborative journey alongside the council and broader Camberwell community to create a design outcome that not only meets current needs, but anticipates future growth, changing needs and climate models.
