Completion | 2014
Rathdowne Place is an aged care facility located within the Carlton Wellbeing Precinct which is a part of the larger Living Carlton Project. Composed over three sites, Living Carlton includes some 18 buildings was masterplanned by Jackson Architecture in 2008 and designed thereafter over a 10 year period.
The plan sees the redevelopment of public housing land to create a diverse range of housing types including retirement living, aged and assisted care accommodation.
Rathdowne Place Aged Care Facility - one of three Australian Unity buildings arranged around a new central public park. Providing a visionary and innovative model of care, Rathdowne Place, has been designed to be inclusive, home like, non-institutionalised or institutionalising. Domestic scale fireplaces, artwork and intimate sitting rooms have been carefully detailed to provide a 5 star hotel like atmosphere as opposed to a typical nursing home. Views to the Dandenong’s are captured and generous balconies facing west overlook the new Community Park.
Lifestyle focused, the facility supports positive aging. It is particularly appealing because of its location and the range of services it provides including:
- Day Respite / Rehab Centre;
- Physio / Podiatry;
- Seniors Gym and Hydrotherapy Pool;
- Medical Consulting/Treatment Suites; and
- Cafe, Cinema and Community meeting spaces.
