Acknowledgement of Country

Jackson Architecture acknowledge the Country we work on as Wurundjeri Country. We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of Country wherever we practice throughout Australia. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and future.

Profile

Established in Melbourne in 1964 by Daryl Jackson, Jackson Architecture (JA) is a national practice with studios in Melbourne and Canberra and affiliated offices in Hong Kong and Fiji. We are an interdisciplinary design practice of professional architects, master planners, urban designers and interior designers. The practice seeks creative solutions to opportunities and problems in the built environment.

We are motivated by the desire to provide sensitive, stimulating spaces that facilitate all aspects of human endeavour. We believe good design should be creative, cost effective, sustainable, imaginative and innovative.

Today, the Jackson Architecture team is led by Sara Jackson, who brings a fresh new approach to the studio environment. Sara has an informed knowledge of government projects, policies and processes as a former Senior Policy Adviser in Department of Premier and Cabinet. She has been practicing architecture for over 30 years and has an unparalleled and empathetic comprehension of space making through the lenses of design, construction and management.

Public and peer recognition of Jackson Architecture’s work has resulted in numerous awards, including the prestigious Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) National Sir Zelman Cowen Award for Public Architecture, on three occasions, and the AIA Gold Medal, the Institute’s highest honour, awarded to architects who have demonstrated distinguished service to the profession.

Jackson Architecture has gained an international reputation for providing high quality architectural and related services based on an ability to synthesise the conflicting demands of creativity, community planning, cost effectiveness and quality design.

The diversity of work we undertake has translational benefits across these sectors, as ideas and design solutions for one project type can often inform another.

We approach each project, regardless of its size or budget, as a new opportunity that demands an exceptional response. The multi-disciplinary aspects of our practice help to keep ideas fresh, minds open and options continually explored. Each project has something to offer the next.
