The Hong Kong Government called for concept designs to upgrade a multi-purpose stadium in the New Territories, approximately 30km north of Hong Kong. Jackson Architecture, working in association with Hong Kong based architects Leigh & Orange, prepared the winning design.
The Stadium sits on a new architectural hill, created by a series of sweeping landscape terraces and green walls that reach out to the gentle slopes of the park. The new hill carefully hides the large area required for operation vehicles, coaches, VIP drop off, change rooms and a myriad of service requirements.
The relatively constrained site holds up to 7,000 spectators at a C - Value of C 75.

Continuing along the public passage, the landscape design provides opportunity for informal seating and a small amphitheatre that aims to promote and facilitate community activities, such as open stage and street festivals. Amplifying its importance, a new arcade of bright pink Trumpet trees defines this important east west axis.
In collaboration with Leigh & Orange.
- Redevelop the stadium to enable it to host international level football matches sanctioned by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC);
- Provision of an eight lane 400m all-weather synthetic athletics track surrounding the football pitch which meets the standards and requirements of the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF);
- Beautification of the public passage that stretches between the new Yuen Long Stadium and the Yuen Long Swimming Pool.
